Hiroki Uchi plays lead role in Broadway musical

Former Kanjani8 and NEWS member Hiroki Uchi (23) is set to star in an upcoming production of the popular Broadway musical "Guys and Dolls." This will be his first time playing the lead on stage.

G Dragon summoned to court over sexual themes

Big Bang's G-Dragon will be summoned to a criminal investigation for the violation of the Youth Protection Act and for lewd conduct.

The investigation will focus on G-Dragon's 1st solo concert last year, "Shine a Light", which exhibited sexual and violent themes, and the fact that it was rated as "strictly prohibited for pre-teens under the age of 12".

The Eastern Seoul District Prosecutor official stated, "We are in the process of collecting and reviewing all the information on the subject matter," then continued, "We will determine the specific time frame when G-Dragon will be summoned to this investigation after this."

G-Dragon held his concert last December which included a sexy performance with a female dancer for his song, Breathe.

The prosecutors are seeking for reasons why "She’s Gone" and "Korean Dream", which were banned by the same Act in November, were still added to the show.

The two songs mentioned are considered not suitable for minors and are prohibited for sale, rent, screening and/or distributing in any channels by this law.

Individuals who are convicted of lewd conduct according to the Article 245 will face fine not exceeding ₩ 5,000,000 and one-year imprisonment and the penalties for the violation of the Youth Protection Act are ₩ 20,000,000 in fines and three-year imprisonment.

A representative from YG Entertainment gave a statement on the issue saying, "YG will assist the investigators in this process and will take care of it on behalf of the client (G-Dragon)" and added, "we will hereby accept the decision and are responsible for the legal action taken according to the Act."

New drama P.S. Man to follow Autumn’s Concerto

The new TTV/SETTV idol drama that follows Autumn's Concerto has finally announced its leads actors and a new title. Previously named Fall in Love with P.S. Man" as the role went to Blue Lan. They will undergo acting lessons and will be given smaller roles in the drama depending on their performance.

Model-turned-actress Sonia Sui will play a kindergarten teacher in the new drama. She had a great year in 2009 with her breakout roles in Black & White and The Happy Times of That Year. Donnie Yen insured limbs for $100million, wife chosen as beneficiary

Action star Donnie Yen has reportedly insured each of his limbs for HK$100 million (S$17.9 million) and put his wife, former beauty queen Cissy Wang, as the beneficiary of the policies.

G-Generation Taecyeon's interview with Chosun

In 2005, a student attending a high school in Boston, America had a future set out for him. He was athletic with a tall height of 185 cm and 76k. His grades were in the top 5% of the nation and he was a member of the National Honor Society. Sophomore year of high school, he received an admissions to the University of Massachusetts. His future dream was to be a doctor or a business man.

With an audition by JYP Entertainment for gyopos abroad, the life of this boy was shaken up. He was at a crossroad. Will he take the road of stability and success in America or gamble with his life in a foreign country in order to become a star?

He immediately put himself on a plane to Korea and led a dark life of an unpredicted future as a trainee. Four years later, he's become one of the biggest stars to receive the love of teens all across Korea. He's idol group 2PM's Ok Taecyeon.

"I was regular just like anyone else. I only knew how to study. But the opportunity to live a different kind of life from everyone else made my heart beat a bit faster. I knew that I was jumping into a completely different world but I wasn't afraid at all. There's a saying that you're going to suffer no matter what when you're young anyway."

There's a new generation arising in Korea called the 'G Generation,' calling those born after the 1988 Seoul Olympics. They're characterized by their inability to go with the flow and their constant need to be different from those around them.

Ok Taecyeon is one of them. Born in 1988, his family immigrated to America during 6th grade. When he came back, Ok noticed "Although I came back after 6 years, I realized that we all had the same outlook on life. There was this urge to build and live in a unique world of our own."

A psychologist from Yonsei University describes it as "The older generation always molded themselves into the expectations of their family or society and some have even succeeded like that. The young adults of the G Generation instead long to be liberated from the views and opinions of others and look for success in work that truly fascinates them."

An international relations professor of JoongAng University states "The baby boom and 386 generation were always preoccupied with how they will look in the eyes of others. The G Generation instead focuses on the importance of individuality and the personal happiness of one another."

Despite the optimism of the G Generation, professionals are often critical and full of worry. A nerve psychiatry professor of Keonkook University explained "The G Generation grew up in an environment where there is always an abundance of everything. In basic issues such as loss of relationships or loss of grades, they are often extremely depressed while handling them when the older generation is able to cope and overcome within 2~3 days. The G Generation also has a harder time than their elders when attending mandatory military service. They receive a lot of stress from just having to share an environment with someone else."

On-diet Elanne Kong reluctantly ate fatty pork fed by JJ Lin

Elanne Kong has been preparing for her first concert relentlessly with dance bootcamps and fitness training, but on New Year's Day she secretly flew to Shanghai to meet with Lin Jun Jie (JJ) for the first time. She even broke her own rules for him, sacrificing the "wasp waist" that she had worked so hard to achieve.

Elanne has admired JJ's musical talents for a long time and so asked a middle person to invite him to be a guest at her concert, to which he agreed. Earlier, she had to be in Hang Zhou for work and found out that JJ would be in Shanghai for countdown activities, and suggested that they meet up on New Years Day. "We just ate dinner together, talked alot about music related things. He's a very nice person, very sweet! (Any developments?) It's only the first time we met, let's not bring it up again until we've had a few more dinners and more time to get to know each other."

Due to the nearness of her concert, Elanne has been in training "hell" in her aspirations to tone her body. Kama Lo owes $70,000 credit card debt

Autumn Concerto craziness! Show Luo fell sick for fans

Sunday idol drama craze is here again! TTV and SETTV drama "Autumn's Concerto" received it's highest rating ever on the 3rd. The rating reached 7.76, defeating My Queen's 7.35 record. Male lead Vanness Wu, who gained popularity from F4, is now as popular as ever. He is even able to threaten Ethan Ruan for the idol king position. As with Show Luo and Rainie Yang's drama, Hi My Sweetheart, the ratings are not bad either with a 4.12 rating.

Vanness, who is vacationing in the United States, can only view clips of the drama through the internet. Netizens' praises of his acting and friends' Facebook messages leave him very happy. In the drama, he finally regains his memory and is full of hatred.

Last week Show Luo wore thin clothes to his autograph session and ended up catching a cold with a fever of 39 degrees C. Cyndi Wang’s father investigated for fraud

Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang's father Wang Ji Hui is under investigation for suspected involvement in a case of fraud.

According to media reports, Wang had introduced a jeweler, Lin Qi Hui, to join the Centre of Cross-straits Peace Law Studies, headed by a Professor Hung Kun Yang, as Lin wanted a free legal consultant certificate and Hung was able to give him one.

After Lin joined the organization, Hung instead took the opportunity to try and persuade Lin to buy Buddhist figures.

Taiwanese authorities caught wind of this incident and charged Hung with fraud, forging documents and flouting the lawyers' code of conduct. Hung has since been freed after posting 200,000 Taiwan dollars (S$10,000) bail.

Officials are checking if the scam had claimed other victims. They are also trying to ascertain Wang's motives for introducing Lin to Hung and may summon Wang to testify.

Cyndi Wang was taken aback when she heard the news.

"I really don't understand this incident but I am sure my father will handle the matter properly," the 27-year-old singer said.

Employees at Cyndi Wang's music label Gold Typhoon were also surprised. However, they said that the elder Wang's affairs are his own and did not concern the singer at all, adding that this matter would not affect her appearance schedule.

Cyndi Wang and her brother were brought up by their mother after her parents divorced. She has had very little contact with her father since then, though she once sent him flowers to congratulate him when he started a business selling energy drinks.

Yun-Ha’s hospitalization extended

The second half of 2009 was a horrible time in the k-pop scene as Korean stars here and there caught the swine flu. We've all been hoping the new year would have something better in store but it looks like we're starting off already with our first swine flu victim of the year: rock n' roller Younha.

On the 31st of December, Younha had shown signs of an ordinary cold but it seems to have evolved into more. On January 1st, Younha began to have massive headaches and body pains when suddenly she collapsed, and was immediately taken and admitted into the Seoul University Medical Center.

An official said, "Currently her throat is very sore and her coughing is very severe. They've extracted her blood to run tests and she's quite exhausted. The hospital says that there's a chance that it is swine flu and she's already been treated with the Tamiflu, and as of now we're watching carefully over her health." Younha's tests results are to be finished and revealed by the evening of January the 1st.

With this sudden admittance into the hospital, Younha will not be able to perform her song We Broke Up Today on today's New Year's Day episode of Music Bank.

KARA’s Goo Hara, "Plastic surgery? I only did my eyes, nose and mouth"

KARA Goo Hara speaks up about rumours of plastic surgery brought up after there were comparisons of her photos during middle school and currently.


Goo Hara was on SBS Strong Heart aired on 5th January when she said, "This is the truth that I’m going to reveal for the first time. There is no female idol singers who will reveal such a thing." She continued, "To say the truth if you are a female celebrity, you want to be called as beautiful by others. That was what I felt when I was young and I just made myself a little prettier."

With that, the others around during the show had asked if she has undergone plastic surgery, she said, "I will not say that I didn’t" laughing.

She added, "Even though this is something I reveal here, the double eyelids, I have them since I was young. But our boss said my eyes looked dull in photos and hence we fixed it once."

"Our boss also said, ‘There is no need for the nose to be higher, we shall just go for one jab shot’" and Jang YeongRan asked, "Are you talking about fillers?" and Hara said, "Yes."

Goo Hara also said, "I only did my teeth".

Following that gagwoman Kim HyoJin said, "Isn’t your eyes, nose and mouth the whole of your face?" causing laugther during the show.

Lastly, Goo Hara said, "I feel good inside after saying this out."

Family Outing cast says goodbye

Amidst news that SBS Family Outing national sibling Yoo JaeSeok and Lee Hyori leaving the Family Outing team, it was known that the other members have also left the team.

The show started airing on 15th June 2008 and had been one of the well-received shows in Korea for the 1.5 years afterwhich. The show, like its name, is where stars will come together for a trip to the countryside for a fun experience.

The show has also gotten acknowledgement and was awarded ‘Best Teamwork’ award during SBS Entertainment Awards. But coming 11th January, it will be the last filming session for the Family members Yoo JaeSeok, Lee Hyori, Yoon JongShin, Kim Sooro, Kim JongKook, DaeSung and Park HaeJin.

Meanwhile, the show will comeback in a new format as ‘Family Outing Season 2′.
